On July 31, 2019, Minnano Taxi Corporation (Headquarters: Taito-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Kenji Nishiura; hereinafter referred to as “Minnano Taxi”) and Daiwa Motor Transportation Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Kinya Maejima; Tokyo Stock Exchange Second Section: 9082; hereinafter referred to as “Daiwa Motor Transportation”) started an online settlement service and S.RIDE WALLET Service, which uses a tablet placed in the back seat of a taxi of Daiwa Motor Transportation, which is a partner of Minnano Taxi.

Minnano Taxi is a joint venture of five taxi companies in Tokyo (Green Cab Co., Ltd., Kokusai Motorcars Co., Ltd., Kotobuki Taxi Co., Ltd., Daiwa Motor Transportation Co., Ltd., and Checker Cab Group), Sony Corporation and Sony Payment Services Inc. The number of taxis that the five taxi companies own exceeds 10,000, which is currently one of the largest in Tokyo.

Since its foundation over 80 years ago, Daiwa Motor Transportation has been the leading company and the first listed company in the industry having the taxi and fully reserved taxi business at its core. Recently, the Company has been actively working on creating services for a new era by utilizing the IoT and AI such as conducting the industry’s first verification test of an automatic driving travel service on public roads, and realizing a mutual overseas car dispatch service with Taiwan Taxi Co., Ltd.

The name of the taxi dispatch app S.RIDE symbolizes a new taxi utilization experience that is Simple, Smart and Speedy. It is a taxi dispatch service that enables a user with one slide to call the nearest taxi that is a member of one of Tokyo’s largest taxi networks.

Following Kokusai Motorcars Co., Ltd., which started offering an online settlement/S.RIDE WALLET service on April 16, Daiwa Motor Transportation started enabling online settlement for users who registered their credit card with S.RIDE app in advance. In addition, when users pick up a taxi on the road or at a taxi station instead of calling a taxi using the app, users may use S.RIDE WALLET function, a unique 2D barcode settlement which enables them to settle by reading a 2D bar code displayed on a tablet located at the back seat of a taxi. This means once a taxi arrives at a destination, the users can swiftly get out of the taxi with the cashless payment system.

Minnano Taxi plans to enhance the services including a demand forecast service that uses AI technology by the end of this fiscal year. By promoting cooperation with partners that have strengths in various business domains, Minnano Taxi would like to continuously improve the environment that allows taxi operators in Japan to use its services.
